Action Plan

Action Plan

What’s Your Action Plan?

"A goal without a plan is just a wish."

Your yearly goals give you direction — but it's your actions that lead to results.
An action plan helps you move forward. It shows what you will do, how often, and how you’ll track your progress.

Start with your most important goal for this year.

Step 1 – Choose your goal and make it specific

Make your goal concrete, realistic, and measurable.

Suggested sentence:
I want to [goal] by [date], so that [why this is important to me].

Examples:

  • I want to lose 5 kilos by July 1, so that I feel fitter.
  • I want to find a new job by July 1, so that I can earn money doing something I enjoy.
  • I want to save €1,200 by December 1, so that I can go on a trip to Japan.

Step 2 – What actions will you take?

Decide what actions will help you reach your goal. Make them simple, measurable, and realistic.

Suggested sentence:
I [action] [how often] to reach my goal.

Examples:

  • I transfer €100 to my savings account every month.
  • I send two job applications every week.
  • I cook a healthy meal five times per week.

Step 3 – How will you track your progress?

Track at least one action (what you do) and one result (what you achieve).

Suggested sentences:
I track [action] [how often].
I check [result] [how often].

Examples:

  • I track how many job applications I send each week.
  • I track how much I save each month.
  • I check how many interviews I get.
  • I check my weight once per month.

Step 4 – How will you reward yourself?

Rewards keep you motivated.

Suggested sentence:
If I [effort or milestone], then I [reward].

Examples:

  • If I save €1,200, then I book my trip and treat myself to sushi.
  • If I apply for eight jobs in one month, then I have a movie night.
  • If I lose 5 kilos, then I buy a new outfit.

Step 5 – Does this plan feel right?

Check:

  • Does it match my values and long-term goals?
  • Is it realistic and motivating?
  • Do I really want to do this?

If not: adjust your plan. It should work for you.

Do this for every goal you've set for the year.
