Define Your Key Annual Goals
Your annual goals help you take step-by-step action toward a happy and meaningful life. By consciously choosing what to focus on in the coming year, you ensure that your energy is directed toward what truly matters. In this exercise, you will build on previous assignments where you identified your key life areas, roles, life goals, and core values. This will help you define goals that genuinely align with who you are.
Step 1: Create a Longlist of Possible Annual Goals
Write down everything you would like to achieve in the coming year. Use insights from previous exercises and think broadly. Consider:
- The most important life areas you have identified.
- The roles you want to consciously fulfill this year.
- Your life goals and core values.
- Areas you want to improve, develop, or experience.
Create a list without limitations—every idea is welcome.
Step 2: Narrow It Down to Your Key Goals
Not every idea on your longlist is equally important. Use these questions to filter your choices:
Is this goal truly important to me and aligned with who I want to be?
→ Does it contribute to my life goals and core values?
→ Does it support progress in my most important life areas?
→ Does it align with the roles I want to fulfill this year?
→ Does it energize and motivate me?
→ Is it achievable within the next 12 months?
Cross out goals that don’t meet these criteria and select the 3 to 5 most meaningful goals to focus on this year.
